The base features a plastic worktop protector ring to prevent the concrete from scratching or damaging surfaces. The Precision+ carbon steel mechanism strips peppercorns instead of crushing them, ensuring maximum flavour release with every turn. When it's time to refill, turn the mill upside down and unscrew the acrylic top from the concrete base, fill it with whole peppercorns, and replace the base. To adjust the grind from fine to coarse, simply tighten or loosen the knob at the base of the mill. Use a coarse setting for steaks or tomato salad, a medium setting for pizzas, and a fine setting for soups and sauces. If the mill becomes difficult to grind, especially on a fine setting, try clearing the mechanism. Turn the mill upside down, loosen the knob to the coarsest setting, and twist the top. This will free any large peppercorns that may have become lodged.
